{ Friday Five: Bare Minerals eyeshadow, Blonde Idol hair care, Daily sunscreen, Hand cream & Blueberry muffins }

June 6, 2014

2014-06-06_0001It’s been a few weeks since my last Friday Five post, so I’m happy to be sharing my favorites again this week!

(Beauty products and blueberry muffins totally go hand-in-hand, right?!)

The lineup:

  • Bare Minerals eyeshadow palettes
  • Redken Blonde Idol hair care
  • Ulta bronze glow sunscreen
  • Honolulu Sun hand cream
  • Streusel-Topped Blueberry Muffins

IMG_8146I love, love, love Bare Minerals for their gorgeous eyeshadow palettes that always come in the prettiest packaging. I found these babies on QVC while online shopping with a glass of wine (a dangerous combination). “The Glass Beach” is a limited edition palette inspired by the sea-glass covered beaches in Northern California. It’s such a unique combination of colors, and I’ve been wearing it nonstop. My favorite shade from the quad is a shimmery jade called “sea glass.” The set of 8 shadows in “The Affair to Remember”  feature some beautiful shades of violet and gray. No matter how you mix and match, they all blend together seamlessly for a soft, romantic look.

IMG_7302I’ve used Redken’s “Blonde Glam” hair care products for a long time, and they recently replaced that with a new line called “Blonde Idol.” I highlight my hair every few months, so it’s important for me to keep some shampoo/conditioner specifically for my hair color on rotation. I especially love this BBB conditioning spray for the multiple benefits it provides: heat protection, detangling, frizz-fighting, and shine-boosting. Bonus: all of the products have a wonderful lemony scent.

IMG_4788I saw this purse-size bottle of sunscreen near the checkout counter at Ulta and when I noticed the $2.99 price tag, I grabbed a couple more. I like the idea that I can throw one of these in my tote bag and have it with me anytime I need it during the summer. No more excuses for accidental sunburn! I like how it’s also water-resistant and has a bit of shimmer for added glow.

IMG_7310I have a slight addiction to hand cream, and Honolulu Sun from Bath & Body Works is the perfect addition to my summer collection. The mix of Pacific palm and fresh coconut is amazing and lingers on skin for a long time.

blueberry muffinsI absolutely love to bake in my spare time. I find it to be so relaxing, it’s almost therapeutic. I found some time to bake this week, so I decided to go with a classic: bluberry muffins with streusel topping. Last summer I went blueberry-picking, and I still had some berries from that trip in the freezer. They were still just as delicious as they were nearly a year ago! There’s no need to defrost frozen berries when baking. Simply add them at the very last minute before placing the batter in the oven to bake to avoid juice “bleeding.” My hubby and I have been enjoying these as an at-work snack all week. Click here for the recipe I used from Betty Crocker.
