Happy Monday and I hope you all had a fun Fourth of July weekend! Like most everyone else’s, it was very low-key compared to years past but we still enjoyed a cookout with a few friends and got to watch some fireworks put off by neighbors. We shot this look in Florida last month and I’m finally getting around to posting it. I’ve been trying to challenge myself to create more monochromatic summer outfits and this is one of them.
For monochrome summer palettes, I gravitate toward light neutrals like white, beige and tan. This outfit has the look of a matching set like one of these, but I just used two pieces in the same color to create a similar effect. This smocked off the shoulder top is less than $10 and comes in multiple colors. My linen shorts have sold out but this paperbag waist style is very similar and also budget-friendly at under $20.
