To be honest, I don’t buy coats very often anymore. After investing in several classic Max Mara styles while living in Italy, I haven’t felt the need for any more in my wardrobe since I know I’ll wear those for a lifetime. That’s why I surprised myself when I spotted this style from H&M—it reminds me a lot of the oversized styles Max Mara offers. I don’t own any coats in an olive color, so I decided to give it a try when they had a sale promotion.
The only drawback about this coat is that it looks a little baggy on me from the back when it’s worn open. Most of the reviews online recommend sizing down but I already have the smallest size (XS). This is probably not going to be an issue if you’re tall, though. I actually prefer to add a belt at the waist because it looks so flattering—and now I’m on the hunt for a wider brown leather belt since I feel like it would look better with this coat. I also want to mention this coat is from H&M’s Premium Quality line, so the material is of a higher level than their other merchandise (but still such a deal at under $150!)
Which do you all prefer: the coat worn open or cinched with a belt?
