Day Trip to Qasr Al-Mshatta Palace in Amman

October 4, 2018

Happy Thursday! Last weekend we visited the remains of a deserted palace, Qasr Al-Mshatta, on the outskirts of Amman. At the time, we were all hot, sweaty, and not in the greatest mood to take photos, but seeing how we managed to capture a few of Lila’s smiles makes it all worthwhile. She’s been sick for the last two days with a fever, so unfortunately we’re not all smiles now. I’m hoping she’s all better soon because it’s the saddest thing to have a sick baby who’s not able to tell you what’s wrong. How can you not smile at this little face? I wish you could see her two bottom teeth here because they are the cutest. Gosh, I just love her!Looking at the entry to the palace (and Lila and I back there in the shadows, ha!) It’s so crazy because these ancient remains are located just outside the airport in Amman, on the edge of an industrial zone–and that more people aren’t around to check them out. We had the entire place to ourselves! Most people want to go for the big picture when they visit a tourist spot, but when it comes to photos, I always love the details. This stonework is so pretty and I can’t believe how well preserved it is.Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend—anyone else have Columbus Day off from work? My husband does so we’re heading to the Wadi Rum desert for a night of glamping as long as Lila feels better. I really want to take her because the last time we went I was still pregnant! Stay tuned!
