It’s the perfect outer layer for cool spring days, unexpected rain showers, or windy weather (as shown here!) I’ve purchased several trenches over the years, but this new style from Ann Taylor tops my list. For starters, the color (also available in black) and silhouette are timeless. The fit is a little more snug at the top than the bottom, which is perfect if you’re like me and your upper body is smaller than the lower. The belt is long enough to tie snugly in a bow or knot, taking care of any extra material at the waist. Another great aspect is the silk lining, which makes it easy to slip on over clothing and keeps everything smooth underneath. My favorite feature of this coat is the waterproof-treated fabric. I tested it before wearing by pouring a little water on my sleeve and sure enough, it beaded into drops and rolled right off. The durable cotton material doesn’t wrinkle too badly and a touch of spandex allows for some stretch. I was lucky enough to nab mine during one of the 40% off store sales, so I definitely feel like this fabulous coat was a bargain!

** For reference to fit, I am just under 5’4″ and purchased a petite size.
